Important principle decision regarding the TIR System in Russia
Supreme Arbitration Court of Russia judges FCS RF decision imposing TIR restrictions as illegal
In an important principle decision rendered on 14 October, the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation. which is the highest judicial body in Russia, judged in favour of ASMAP and confirmed that the FCS RF decision dated 4 July 2013 is invalid. This court decision enters into force with immediate effect.
The International Road Transport Union (IRU) very much welcomes this important judgment and trusts that it will result in the immediate withdrawal of any restrictions to TIR operations in the regions which were affected by FCS RF measures.
The IRU also looks forward to working together with Russian customs authorities and ASMAP to solve, once and for all, any outstanding issues to ensure the smooth and efficient continuation of the TIR System in Russia.
