IMS ends cooperation with Roland Spedition

Economic tensions“ as reasons for IMS Management to take drastic measures and container blockade

The cooperation of the container operator IMS and Roland Spedition in seaport hinterland traffic with German North Sea ports is past. On conduct of IMS Intermove Systems the partnership was ended with immediate effect at the end of last week. This measure affects all rail connections from Salzburg, Enns, Linz and Vienna to the north German ports and return, or around 40 weekly departures in total. Wolfgang Tomassovich, Head of IMS, states economic tensions as the reason for his handling. According to his statements they had tried to find solutions for a period of several weeks before. Because these efforts had brought no result, he considers “the continuation of the cooperation makes no sense and is questionable from an economic point of view.”

Due to alleged high claims on Roland Spedition, the IMS Head also prompted a container stop at the terminals. They wanted to keep the effects to customers at a possibly low level. Moreover he asks all concerned forwarders and shippers to quickly contact them, in order to reach a quick release of the consignments, Tomassovich announces in a letter.

The high frequence of the IMS rail service between Germany and Austria remains as before. Tomassovich: From 4 May parts of the shuttle connections will be redirected to Linz, to grant a better connection to this important location. The links via Maschen will remain unaffected.“
