Roland Spedition repulses damage to their reputation by IMS-company

Management of Roland Spedition is taking legal action against the IMS enterprise

The surprising termination of the cooperation between the container operators IMS and Roland Spedition has legal consequences. The Management of the forwarding company Roland Spedition has already started taking legal measures against the IMS-company, as they state.

On demand of the Österreichische Verkehrszeitung (Austrian Transport Journal), Managing Director Christian Gutjahr considers the behaviour of the IMS-company as extremely contrary to their contract and unlawful. “IMS tried to damage the flawless reputation of Roland Spedition as a reliable partner within the whole branch by public statements that are false or harm the credit worthiness. IMS obviously accepts that customers of Roland Spedition suffer damage from the announced, not legally covered container stop“, he states in a release. “This, and derogation from contractual agreements of IMS is without any due reason and on no legal basis,“ he adds.

To the question which consequences the steps taken by the IMS-company will have for Roland Spedition, Christian Gutjahr answers as follows: “With this attempt to solve agreements in a totally unacceptable way, and to damage the reputation of our company throughout the branch, IMS is obviously just aiming to damage a competitor. Of course we have already taken legal steps against this. Nevertheless we seek to strengthen our position, expand our market presence and make our proven rail systems even more customer-oriented, efficient and flexible“.

According to their own statements Roland Spedition is the biggest independent container operator in Austria. The main activities of the family-enterprise that was established in 1982 are links between the big European seaports Hamburg, Bremerhaven, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Koper and Trieste and the major inland terminals in Austria. Services in the field of container trucking and forwarding container consignments by train or truck to the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary are also part of their service range. Last year 40 employees handled more than 100,000 TEU at the locations in Schwechat and Salzburg.
