Investment program at BLG car terminal in Cuxhaven

BLG Logistics Group (Bremen) investing EUR 3.5 million into expansion of the car ternubak at the site in Cuxhaven

 

The BLG Logistics Group is taking actuion to consolidate the market position of its car terminal in Cuxhaven. They will make EUR 3.5 million-investments for the construction of a new Ro/Ro ramp, 53,000 m² of extra space and technical facilities, improved quality, equipment and operative processes. The main target of this program is to enhance the close cooperation with their shipping partner KESS, as well as the shipping company DFDS, who are mainly using Cuxhaven as a trans-shipment centre for short-sea shipping to the British Isles and Scandinavia.

The BLG car terminal in Cuxhaven is by their own account set to grow. New deals shall bring the terminal to handle a total of 190,000 vehicles in 2011, after 110,000 last year. These new deals involve Opel models from England destined for Germany and Poland, and Mercedes vehicles made in Germany destined for the Swedish market. According to Manfred Kuhr, deputy chairman of the BLG Executive Board, “With the new investments and the well-established co-operation, an annual turnover of around 250,000 vehicles will be possible as early as 2012.”
