Qatar Airways orders three new Boeing 777 freighters and two Boeing 777-300 ER passenger aircraft. The announcement of the order was made on the sidelines of the “Business & Investment in Qatar Forum” held in New York. The new aircraft are valued at USD 1.4 billion at list prices. Qatar Airways currently operates two 777 freighters. Moreover the airline deploys eight long-range Boeing 777-200LRs and fifteen 777-300ERs.In November 2007, Qatar Airways placed orders for 32 Boeing 777s, comprising passenger and cargo aircraft. Today, it operates 25 Boeing 777s. The airline’s 25th Boeing 777 was delivered last week. Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: “Qatar Airways has made a significant commitment to the 777, an airplane which has become the flagship of our fleet.“ Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world. The airline is based in Doha, Quatar’s capital. Its fleet of 97 aircraft calls 100 destinations around the globe. By 2013 they want to approach around 120 destinations with more than 120 aircraft.
