JCL abandons plans for Logistics Competence Centre for Zumtobel

Following the consensual annulment of the agreement with JCL Logistics Zumtobel Group is in search of a new logistics partner

The planned logistics cooperation of the stock listed luminaire manufacturer Zumtobel Group (Vorarlberg) and JCL AG based in Graz has failed. The two companies have consensually annulled their agreement to construct the Logistics Competence Centre in Dornbirn. In a letter JCL explains this step was made because the condition of the soil of the plot was not offering a strong and reliable technical and economic basis.

Despite this setback Zumtobel will adhere to their expansion plans for the lighting plant at the Dornbirn site – where a new hall will be constructed for EUR 20 million until the end of this year – and the envisaged reorganisation of their logistics processes. The enterprise is currently exploring various alternatives to compensate for the JCL withdrawal. They had options which give them the flexibility to bridge the gap for a certain period. Negotiations with other logistics providers shall start immediately. It remains their goal to integrate the Hohenems warehouse for raw materials and semi-finished products into the Dornbirn plant and to outsource the finished products warehouse to an external partner.
