Mierka Group keeps set targets

Mierka Donauhafen Krems enforces industrial packing segment

There is no reason to change the medium and long term targets of Mierka Donauhafen Krems. The group will consequently follow its plans. This is one of the main messages contained in the annual report 2008 of the MDK Mierka Donauhafen Krems. “We will keep our plans to expand our services in the fields of industrial packing and implement further acquisitions for the warehousing logistics segment in connection with the trimodal terminal”, Managing Director Hubert Mierka emphasises in a press release. The industrial packing activities are based on a cooperation with the company Rieder.

Last year Mierka Donauhafen Krems handled a total transport volume of nearly 1.4 million tons. Hence the annual result of 2007 was exceeded by 1.95 per cent. Throughput at the WienCont Krems container terminal amounted to the same level as last year – 42,000 TEU.

The freight forwarding company Mierka Befrachtung (the company is specialised in organising river shipping transportations) had been able to further expand the goods and client portfolio. According to the report the collaboration with the subsidiary Panta Rhei Slovakia worked even better than expected. Hubert Mierka is particularly glad about having acquired new clients in the sectors of agricultural products, warehouse logistics, container stuffing/stripping and industrial packing.
