Enlarged telematic solutions with Camion Transport

Camion Transport optimises IT for general cargo distribution

The Swiss logistics service provider Camion Transport AG adds new functions to its PSV3 telematic solution and equips its around 500 own general cargo trucks with new terminals. The PDA computers of the Ikôn-type will replace the eight years old handhelds of the Work-About line. As before, TIS Technische Informationssysteme GmbH from Bocholt is the supplier of the whole solution. The new terminal devices are equipped with cameras and large displays, where recipients can sign immediately. A new feature is the recording of fuel data by the drivers.

Camion uses the telematic solution of TIS in three languages: German, Italian and French. Until now more than 200 of the 500 vehicles have been equipped with the new devices. Albert Peter, in charge of the IT-unit at Camion, wants to finalise the process before the end of this year.

Camion Transport, based in Will, was established in 1925 and is today, according to its own account, one of the most important transport and logistics enterprises in Switzerland. The key activities comprise comprehensive general cargo distribution, warehousing and logistics activities in Switzerland and in the Principality of Liechtenstein. 10 locations are operated in cooperation with Cargo Domizil partners.
