JKC Joint Venture awards SDV Australia Contract for integrated freight forwarding services

SDV Australia is proud to announce that the Joint Venture formed by JGC Corporation, Kellog Brown & Root and Chiyoda Corporation, have approved the award of the integrated freight forwarding services contract to SDV Australia, and related to the construction of downstream LNG plant facilities for the Ichthys LNG project

The contract SDV Australia was awarded exceeds $100 million with freight forwarding volume estimated at 580,000 FRT (freight tons). SDV Australia provides the integrated and first class professional freight forwarding service to fully support JKC JV’s logistics activities from various sources to multiple worksites for the Ichthys Onshore LNG Facilities project.

The Ichthys LNG Project is a joint venture between INPEX, Total, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas and Toho Gas and represents the second largest oil and gas development in Australia’s history. Gas from the Ichthys Field, in the Browse Basin approximately 125 miles off-shore of Western Australia, will undergo preliminary processing to remove water and extract condensate. The gas will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via a 552 mile subsea pipeline. The Ichthys LNG Project is expected to produce 8.4 million tons of LNG and 1.6 million tons of LPG annually, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.

JKC JV will execute and construct the LNG facility at Blaydin Point in Darwin in the Northern Territory of Australia along with the associated utility and off-site, marine facility and infrastructure facilities.

A unique and challenging aspect of the EPC effort adopted for this Project is the fully modular construction strategy, minimizing onshore construction activities at the construction site in Darwin. JKC JV plans to utilize several fabrication yards located in Thailand, China and the Philippines to support the planned 180,000 tons of LNG modules.

SDV Australia, as part of SDV Asia-Pacific will operate the management of the integrated freight forwarding service contract through a unique combination of local strengths, between Japan, Australia and their regional support headquarters in Singapore that will utilize their extensive international network.
