Joint Venture Rhenus Catoni Logistics sets the sail

Rhenus and Catoni Group develop joint solutions for a better connection of the Danube region and Turkey

The Rhenus group and the Catoni group with headquarters in Istanbul formed the new joint venture Rhenus Catoni Logistics A.S. earlier in July. The aim of this cooperation is to improve the logistic connection of the Danube region and Turkey, the companies inform in a press release. Initially they will provide bulk cargo transportations with two vessels of Rhenus. Both founding companies are equal shareholders of the venture.

The recently established joint venture is headed by Thomas Ullrich, Managing Director Rhenus Maritime Services, and Patrick Schäffer, Managing Director of the Rhenus group in charge of Danube activities. The Catoni group completes the management board with Jonathan Beard, Chairman of the company, and Serdar Ayirtman, CEO of Catoni Transport Division.

“Turkey and its neighbouring countries in South Caucasus and the Middle East are economically moving closer to the European inland market. The resulting flow of goods, particularly of raw materials and agricultural products, find their way over the Black Sea and the Danube towards Western and Central Europe," explains Patrick Schäffer.

"With your own ship capacity, which we also offer on the market, and high-quality multimodal logistic chains, we will link up the economic regions for our customers. The big local know-how of the Catoni group in this region helps us with that, "adds Thomas Ullrich.

Catoni group was established in 1846 in Cyprus as a specialist for the handling of international goods flows. Today the company’s headquarters is in Istanbul and they run ten more locations in Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
