K” Line takes over the first 14,000TEU vessel

Japanese shipping and logistics company (“K” Line) has already placed an order of five more 14,000 TEU container vessels

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. (“K” Line) announces that the “Millau Bridge”, the first of five 14,000 TEU vessels ordered in 2013, has been duly delivered to the shipping line on 31 March at Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Hiroshima Shipyard.

The respective vessel will be deployed on the Asia-Europe service (NE2) under the CKYHE Alliance. The NE2 service will be upsized following the delivery of the remaining 4 vessels along with the partners’ similar-sized vessels.

“K” Line  has already placed an order of five more 14,000 TEU vessels at Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. which are due to be delivered in 2018 and the ULCV (Ultra Large Container Vessel) fleet, with the latest energy-saving technologies, will become 10 units in total. These 10 vessels will be the flagships of the containership business.
