Vectron locomotive authorised for Czech Republic and Turkey

Vectron multi-system locomotive from Siemens can now run on all sections of the Czech network without any operational restrictions

The Czech Rail Authority has granted final and full authorisation for the Vectron multi-system and AC versions to operate in the Czech Republic. Following the successful conclusion of all tests in 2014, also the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) authorised the multi-system version of the Vectron locomotive. The authorisation covers the entire Vectron family.

As part of the authorization tests, a Vectron equipped with Turkish and European train control system (ETCS) was operated on conventional routes, but also tested and used in service on the high-speed rail line between Istanbul and Ankara operating at speeds up to 200 kilometers an hour. The Vectron locomotive mastered all the commercial test operations as well as heavy-duty loads. The tests covered a total of more than 25,000 kilometers.

Vectron can be scaled by country or equipment packages, and hence adjusted to each transport task. The platform concept allows refitting and upgrading the locomotive for its use on different corridors. Quickly available pre-assembled variants allow short delivery times. The Vectron platform concept allows also a later effortless refitting of the locomotive for the use on different corridors.
