KOG Worldwide to join the organisation of Rhenus Project Logistics

Acquisition of the Swiss project logistics specialist KOG Worldwide opens the way to new market segments for Rhenus Project Logistik

The Rhenus Group took over the Swiss project logistics specialist KOG Worldwide AG. The contracts were signed inZurich on 24 February 2015. KOG Worldwide largely focuses on project logistics and transporting plant abroad, mainly to the USA, Europe and Asia.

KOG Worldwide manages complex international logistics projects for customers, particularly in the field of plantconstruction where specific professional and local knowledge is required to organise and complete the tasks. The company founded by Jürgen Osmers and Rolf Gubler in 1981 has its headquarters in the canton of Zug in Switzerland and operates 21 companies in18 countries around the globe.

The business activities of KOG are being merged with Rhenus Project Logistics within the Rhenus Group. The KOG brand, however, will continue to be used. “Rhenus Project Logistics recently adjusted its orientation to become more international by opening new business sites in North Africa and Asia. This purchase will enable us to significantly expand our range of products and our project logistics network,” says Tobias König, Managing Director of Rhenus Project Logistics, giving the reasons for the acquisition.

“We’ve focused on wind power projects for European plant manufacturers in the past, among other things. We’ll now particularly attract the interest of US and Asian manufacturers of complete plant and general companies too,” says Carsten Schröter, who is also Managing Director of Rhenus Project Logistics. Power station construction and heavy industry will also be key targets for the Rhenus Group’s project logistics operations in future.

As a result of the acquisition of KOG Worldwide, Rhenus gains new business sites in the USA, Canada, Europe and Russia – but also in the Middle East and the Far East. “The integration of KOG Worldwide within the highly diverse spectrum of the Rhenus Group is a major step forward for our company. With our main centres in the USA, Switzerland and Japan, we’ll be serving markets and segments where project logistics operations at Rhenus have not been so strong in the past,” says Jürgen Osmers, Managing Director of KOG Worldwide.

The business sites of the KOG Group are certified according to the ISO 9001 quality management system, the ISO 14001 environmental management system and the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety management system.
