KombiTerminal Burghausen (Southern Bavaria) starts test operation

KombiTerminal Burghausen (KTB) to offer good connections to the European intermodal and rail network for the chemical triangle in Southern Bavaria

The combined transport terminal KombiTerminal Burghausen (KTB) in Southern Bavaria close to the border with Austria has started test operation these days. This means the first movement on the system become visible as a harbinger of permanent operation. Following the expectedly successful test phase, the regular operation will start at the end of September.

While the throughput facility has been completed with four tracks and a gantry crane several weeks ago, the last works on the storage areas for empty containers are currently being carried out. The basis for smooth operation are tests of all processes at the terminal. Therefore a container block train is composed to simulate the processes of the handling of various cargo units as well as the interaction of operations and systems.

Once the terminal starts commercial operation, the current container train of Wacker Chemie will be shifted to the new terminal. Additional train capacity is to follow. The internal terminal system of Wacker then offers again sufficient capacity for the storage and handling of tank containers – the original area of application of the there installed gantry crane.

KTB – KombiTerminal Burghausen is a public terminal for combined road / rail transport and an important factor for manufacturing companies in Burghausen, in ChemDelta Bavaria and neighbouring regions
