Kombiverkehr launches new service between Rostock and Wels
Launching a new rail link between the maritime port of Rostock and Wels in Austria, Frankfurt-based Kombiverkehr KG, Europe’s market leader in intermodal rail freight transport, offers customers from forwarding and logistics business another option to carry cargo and goods efficiently and economically by rail. With immediate effect the direct train connects Austria once a week to the north of Germany. The day of dispatch in Rostock is Monday (deadline 1:45) and back from Wels on Friday (deadline 20:00).
The train covers the distance of 930 km within approximately 24 hours. On the condition of sufficient demand, the new service will be increased to two weekly rotations.
“The train between Rostock and Wels is a prime example of Kombiverkehr pushing its network strategy. Both from Rostock and from Wels, there are many connections by rail and waterway, allowing forwarders to implement intermodal transport on extensive transport corridors,” says Peter Dannewitz, Head of Sales of the company based in Frankfurt am Main. From Rostock, ferry links to Finland, Sweden and Denmark are available. Wels offers connections by rail to and from Vienna, Curtici, Thessaloniki, Budapest and the port of Trieste.
DB Cargo AG provides the traction for the train in both, the German and the Austrian railway network. Including the new offer between Rostock and Wels Kombiverkehr today offers a total of 38 train departures per week between Germany and Austria.
