Kukla Spedition launches “Port Munich” shortsea service

CO2-optimised multimodal transport from Munich – empty containers to be positioned for free from the Munich depot

Munich-based forwarder Spedition Robert Kukla has launched a solution for reliable and cost-effective container transport from Southern Germany, titled “Port Munich”. They offer multimodal end-to-end transports from Munich via Hamburg, Lübeck or Rotterdam to the UK and Scandinavia. Transport to the seaports is handled on the railway via the transhipment station München-Riem to Rotterdam or Hamburg. Only containers destined for Scandinavia are trucked between Hamburg and Lübeck.

For the implementation Kukla, as a market leader in the field of multimodal transport and short sea shipping, cooperates with all leading shortsea operators. The Munich-based forwarding company organises the further forwarding via its own local branches or by agents. The provision of containers from the Munich depot on short notice result in a high level of supply and planning security. “By ensuring the availability of empty containers in the hinterland we can finally offer shortsea connections at our home base,” said Knut Sander, CEO Kukla.

The ports served by short sea shipping include Dublin, Belfast, Waterford and Cork, as well as Grangemouth, Blyth, Immingham, Felixtowe, Ipswitch and Tilbury. In Scandinavia the prots of call are Sundsvall, Stockholm, Sodertälje, Malmö, Helsingborg, Gothenburg, Fredrikstad, Oslo, Larvik, Kristiansand, Arhus, Rauma, Turku, Helsinki, Kotka and Hamina.

Robert Kukla GmbH Internationale Spedition based in Munich specialises on multimodal transport, tank transport, truck transport in Western and Eastern Europe, and is experienced in warehousing logistics. Established in 1941, the company is working with a dense network of strong partners and has about 110 employees.
