Lehnkering invests at port of Rotterdam

Lehnkering launches construction of dangerous goods depot in Rotterdam

In the third quarter of 2009 Lehnkering Group will enlarge its portfolio in Benelux by a dangerous goods terminal in the port of Rotterdam, offering direct access to the railway network and options to handle container shipments. The company recently signed the contract for the construction of the facility. A building complex offering 6,000 square metres of warehousing area and 12,000 pallet slots will be constructed.

Uwe Willhaus, COO of Lehnkering, expects the chemical industry to show a growing demand for warehouse logistic services despite the current economic situation. The new building in Rotterdam is designed for almost all dangerous goods and for water endangering substances. From a strategic point of view the facility shall support international customers with industrial goods storage, importation- and distribution logistics.

Lehnkering has 2,700 employees and achieves an annual turnover of about EUR 650 million; the company is therefore ranked among the leading providers of logistics services in Central Europe. In addition to classic logistics services the portfolio comprises a broad range of value-added services.
