Linz airport shows increase in cargo volume

blue danube airport Linz (Upper Austria) can draw a positive balance for the past financial year 2014; cargo throughput up 3.3 percent

Linz airport can draw a positive balance for the past financial year 2014. Despite the conditions had been marked by the airlines’ strikes, a restrained economy and geopolitical crisis, blue danube airport linz saw increases in cargo volume as well as with passengers and take-offs and landings. The airport is thus steering a course of growth again.

In cargo transport the Linz airport registered a 3.3 per cent growth. Handling 44,400 tonnes of air freight, Linz was able to confirm and even expand its position as Austria’s biggest, regional freight airport.

“Last year’s balance had been consistently positive, although it had been quite challenging. Apart from strikes the tense security situation in North Africa had been affecting demand. The more pleasing it is that we were able to see growth in traffic figures, and are on a course of growth again“, emphasises Gerhard Kunesch, director of the airport.
