Logwin: Ten years of logistics for Douglas in Germany

Supplying over 400 stores in Germany: Logwin’s concept of the cross-docking centre is well received with Douglas perfumeries

The logistics partnership of Logwin and the Douglas perfumeries in Germany has been lasting for ten years. The international logistics service provider has been responsible for supplying over 400 stores in the country, delivering cosmetics and lifestyle products from over 300 suppliers to the shops ready for sale.

What convinced Douglas to cooperate with Logwin in Germany was the excellent experience they had already made with Logwin’s logistics in Austria. Douglas has concentrated on the concept of the cross-docking centre since the mid-nineties. In contrast to a distribution centre, the turnaround time for goods in a cross-docking centre is shorter, since incoming goods are processed and forwarded immediately.

Douglas currently operates six cross-docking centres in Germany. Logwin runs two of the largest CDCs in Aschaffenburg and Hamburg, where they provide full range goods receipt service including value added services. „Logwin is our most important carrier for store deliveries,“ says Dr. Michael Krings, Managing Director of Douglas Logistik GmbH. „Logistics from Logwin relieves our staff, who can thus concentrate fully on advising customers. The pinpoint replenishment deliveries also mean that we do not require costly storage facilities in our stores.“
