Imperial Reederei, Duisburg, and Buss Ports, Hamburg, are launching a major project. As of 1 January 2012 both companies will jointly operate the Hüttenwerke Krupp-Mannesmann (HKM) port in Duisburg-Huckingen. Approximately 65 employees will operate the port facility 365 days a year. Annual throughput amounts to around 10 million tons.

The newly established joint venture will operate under the name Buss Imperial Logistics GmbH & Co. KG. Both companies will hold 50 per cent of the capital shares. Marc Hauswald (Buss) and Dr. Roland Pütz (Imperial Reederei) will take over management of the new company.

The objective of this joint venture is to merge the strengths of both companies and enhance logistics processes on the terminal area. Buss, as an established port operator, brings in many years of experience in port handling and Imperial Reederei will contribute their many years of experience in shipping and port operations for HKM.
