Another highlight at Emirates SkyCargo
Emirates SkyCargo transported a 36-tonne vessel component – the heaviest single item ever carried in the airline’s history:
On behalf of the Dubai-based charter broker Air Charter International, Emirates SkyCargo transported these days the heaviest single item it has ever carried. The vessel component – 9.16 metres long and 1.05 metres wide, weighing 36 tons – was transported on a Boeing 747-400F from Seoul, South Korea, to Dubai. Such freight pieces would normally be transported by sea, but due to the urgency of the delivery the part – produced by Korean steel manufacturer Taewoong – was handled by air freight.
Apart from Air Charter International and Emirates SkyCargo many specialists contributed to the smooth handling of this transport. Two heavy lift cranes along with two high loaders were required to load the cargo piece.
