Metrans: New trimodal container terminal in Usti nad Labem

Metrans’ new trimodal container terminal will cover the area of North Bohemia (Czech Republic) and parts of Southern Saxonia (Germany)

Multimodal provider Metrans is expanding existing terminal network by a new trimodal location in Usti nad Labem. Decision to open this new terminal is Metrans’s reaction on steadily rising costs like highway toll (10-30% in 2015), electricity (due to contribution for renewable sources) etc. .

This new solution for North Bohemia and Southern Saxonia region will offer to its clients:

• Daily departures as multi-stop to Hamburg and Bremerhaven which will be connected Metrans’ existing regular trains from Prague. The shuttle trains will pass in Usti nad Labem through shunting rail station (Vorbahnhof) which will enable fast sevice not only to Hamburg/Bremerhaven but also for our regular trains to Duisburg and Rotterdam RSC in both directions.

• The new trimodal terminal can offer barge transports to Hamburg to all main terminals (CTB, CTT, CTA, Eurogate, Hamburg Sued / Schuppen 34-85 and Progeco) and some other destinations  with barge connectivity.

• Prices for multimodal services with origin or destination located in North Bohemia served via terminal Usti nad Labem will drop by EUR 10,00 – 70,00 / TEU.

USTI NAD LABEM and its surrounding is a significant production area and transportation hub in Czech Republic. The new trimodal Metrans terminal is linked to all means of transport like the main railway connection between Czech Republic and Germany, the D8 – highway connection between Prague and Germany as well as the Labe (Elbe) – barge connection to Germany.
