MOL upgrades CSW service

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) will upgrade its Asia – East Coast South America (CSW) service from July 2011 through 2012, launching ten new 5,600 TEU containerships and replacing the currently operated vessels.

The new vessels will adopt a new wide-beam and shallow-draft design, featuring high loading capacity and compatibility with shallow-draft ports in South America, as well as superior fuel efficiency.
Also in July 2011, MOL will assign an additional ship to the CSW service for a total of thirteen vessels.

Along with the fleet expansion, MOL will begin chartering space to a consortium of NYK Line, K-Line, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Pacific International Line.
With thirteen ships on a 91-day turnaround, the new CSW port rotation will be: Xingang > Dalian > Qingdao > Pusan > Shanghai > Hong Kong > Singapore > Santos > Buenos Aires > Montevideo > Paranagua > Sao Francisco Do Sul > Santos > Rio De Janeiro > Cape Town > Ngqura > Singapore > Hong Kong > Xingang.
