Mondi Swiecie on course for further success

One year after starting up the state-of-the-art production site in Swiecie, Mondi Corrugated is on course for further success in Poland. In April 2010 the plant was certified according to the BRC/IoP (British Retail Consortium/ Institute of Packaging) Hygiene Standard, which is designed for manufacturers of packaging solutions for the food industry. The next step was the successful installation of a dust system in 2010 to increase hygienic standards even further. Now, after one year of operation the new plant has already exceeded the planned efficiency level and continues to improve.

“Since January 2010 the entire Swiecie’s production of corrugated packaging has been transferred to the new site, which features exceptional environmental benefits. Thanks to the reduced consumption of electricity and water during paper production itself we save up to 30 % of these resources”, Thomas Ott, CEO Mondi Corrugated Packaging states. “At present, we are undergoing certification according to ISO 9001 and OHAS 18001 standard”, he concludes. The Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHAS) are internationally recognised management systems focusing on risk assessment in order to reduce hazards at the workplace.

The plant itself is one element of an integrated value chain production site, which also houses a recycled fibre plant, a fast and ecological lightweight recycled paper machine (Eco7) and a paper warehouse. The capacity of the corrugated plant exceeds 200 million sqm, allowing Mondi Corrugated to service its customers with highest quality print whilst meeting the growing demand for intelligent shelf-ready packaging. The product portfolio comprises high quality post print, large format and heavy-duty packaging as well as shelf-ready packaging.
