Montreal Port reopens tomorrow

With negotiations reported to have been "positive", the MEA lock-out at the Port of Montreal will be lifted at 08h00 tomorrow (Saturday).

During the lock-out, some shipping lines were diverting vessels to other ports.

However, while Halifax can handle the extra vessels, the Port reported that the offloaded containers were stacking up, despite extra trains brought in by CN Rail.

The OOCL Montreal is currently in Halifax discharging its westbound cargo. In order to arrange the quickest possible delivery of cargo and to minimise customer costs, the SLCS has decided to reload all cargo onto the vessel and resume its voyage to Montreal. The ship is expected to arrive in Montreal on Sunday.

The MSC Aniello and Toronto Express, previously re-routed to Halifax, will now proceed directly to Montreal, with berthing scheduled for July 25th and 28th respectively.
