MRCE announces the delivery of its first Vectron locomotives

The leading European locomotive leasing company Mitsui Rail Capital Europe (MRCE) announced today that it will receive the delivery of the first 10 out of in total 15 ordered Siemens Vectrons, this month. The new locomotives will be available in Munich at the Siemens production facility in the second week of January. The locomotives will be certified for operation in Germany, Austria and Hungary.

MRCE purchased AC Vectrons that are capable of running 160 km/h, with a maximum power of 6.400 kW. All the company’s locomotives of this model are equipped with the national safety systems PZB/LZB and ETCS. “As the result of the evaluation, we judged the Vectron is the most suitable locomotive for the company. Therefore, I believe that the new Vectron locomotives will be a great addition to strengthen the backbone of the company” says Tetsu Ikeda, CEO of MRCE.

The Siemens Vectron platform was designed to fulfil the need for a flexible and reconfigurable multipurpose locomotive. The Vectron has been developed to succeed the Siemens EuroSprinter platform and will be available in different variants. Besides the AC’s of MRCE, a DC variant and a diesel version are part of the Vectron family.
