New Global IT function renews AMI customer focus

Union of company’s IT and marketing activities

AMI – the world’s largest trade-only freight wholesaler – has created a new global IT function that unites the company’s IT and marketing activities for the first time, with the aim of further enhancing its service offering.

The operation is headed by newly-appointed Angus Gow, as VP-Information Technology. He will be reponsible for the transformation of AMI to a technology-based business, with particular emphasis on further developing its online capabilities to enhance its service offering and maintain its industry-leading position.

Gow has held a variety of IT-related posts ranging from programmer to board level, working for major corporations including Microsoft and Reuters, and was most recently Development Director at online retailer “I want one of those.com”.

Nigel Moolenaar, currently General Manager – Sales, Marketing and Business Development, joins AMI’s Global IT team as General Manager – Global Marketing and Business Development. With AMI since 2002, Moolenaar’s new role expands his responsibilities from UK only to cover AMI’s entire global network. His UK sales management role will be covered through the appointment of a new General Manager – Sales. Further strengthening AMI’s vitally-important online development capability are two additional Web Developers, Stephen Bradley and Kwok Wai Tang, whose appointments increase AMI’s IT team to a total of 9 people.
