New handheld scanners improve DPD Austria’s delivery service

DPD Austria parcel service company equips its more than 1,000 drivers with new handheld scanners thereby increasing service quality for customers

DPD Austria, a parcel service company, arms its more than 1,000 drivers with new handheld scanners. The devices of the Honeywell brand feature new functions as well as improved software. “This makes deliveries even faster and easier. Special customer requirements can be better implemented“, the company informs in a press release.

“Apart from the delivery vehicle, the handheld scanner is the most important tool of our drivers. The devices play an important role for fast and safe delivery of the parcels“, says Rainer Schwarz, managing director DPD Austria.

The enterprise moves about 157,000 parcels per day. Up to six times per second, one of the scanners is scanning the bar code of a DPD parcel in Austria. Thanks to its handiness, computing power and its new features similar to smartphones, the Honeywell 99EX type obviously offers many advantages for daily work. Thus the improved displays can clearly show special requirements of the customers, which helps processing them. In addition, they are now using integrated software for the classic DPD parcels and the primetime premium express service.

“With this change we facilitate working processes of our drivers, thereby increasing the service quality for our customers“, says Rainer Schwarz. “Fast and smooth processes are a particular benefit to us, as we have been increasing our commitment to the private customers segment, in which often only one parcel is delivered per address.“
