New train schedule for Kombiverkehr KG’s Germany-Poland route

Cooperation with Polzug Intermodal shall provide customers of Kombiverkehr a jump in quality on the Poland routes

At the start of this week Kombiverkehr KG (Frankfurt) launched a new train schedule for the Germany-Poland route to improve performance and reliability of railway transportation. A shuttle will operate three departures per week – Monday, Wednesday, Friday – in either direction between Poznan and Duisburg. In cooperation with their partner Polzug Intermodal GmbH four more combined stations will be called in Poland. One train will be operated between Poznan and the terminals Wroclaw and Dabrowa Gornicza (near Kattowice), a second between Poznan and Lodz and Pruszków (near Warszawa).Via Pruszków they will also call the Malaszewicze terminal, which plays a major role in traffic with Russia. Forwarding in Poznan is carried out on both courses on the day of arrival.

“We assume our new production concept results in a jump in quality and enables us to provide our customers an alternative to exclusive road transport for the important trade partner Poland", says Ingolf Kästner, Manager International Transport Kombiverkehr. Until now trains from Germany were divided into several wagon groups at the shunting station in Poznan, and forwarded to further railway stations in Poland. At the return of the train, wagons have sometimes missed the forwarding in Poznan and arrived only with the next departure in Duisburg. Then shipments had to remain in Duisburg, because for the transport to Poland there were to less wagons or they could only be replaced with wagons that could carry less weight. The new concept resulting from intensive negotiations with involved railway companies can exclude such error sources.
