Blum group expands logistics facility in Dornbirn

Werk 7 in Dornbirn: Blum group to establish three-storey production building and enlarges high rack storage by 11,400 pallet slots
 
Fittings manufacturer Blum is taking further steps to increase production capacity at the Werk 7 plant in Dornbirn. When presenting the key figures of the 2012/13 financial year (June 30) last week, the management announced the expansion of the areas for production and storage capacity. This construction stage includes a three-storey production building, capacity enlargement of the automatic high rack storage by 11,400 pallet slots (currently 39,000 slots) and an additional container transhipment area for rail transport. The investment totals EUR 26.8 million. Construction works shall be completed by mid-2014.
 
Additional office space will be created at the headquarters, Werk 2 in Höchst, through adding another storey to the building. Moreover the Blum group has opened a location in Vietnam last year, and started construction works for a new office building and warehouse in Mexico.
 
The internationally operating Blum group has about 5,907 employees worldwide and produces hinges, dampers and pull-out systems for the furniture industry. In the 2012/2013 financial year the group’s turnover increased by 4.4 per cent to EUR 1.317 billion. While the enterprise registered flat business development in Western Europe, markets in Eastern Europe, North America and Asia showed positive development.
