News from ODFL

Old Dominion Freight Line has relocated and expanded its San Jose Service Centre, and opened a new container drayage facility in Alabama.

Old Dominion Freight Line has relocated its San Jose Service Centre to an expanded and upgraded facility in response to sustained growth in the region.

During the last three-and-a-half-years, the San Jose Service Centre has experienced explosive growth due to a rising demand from the pharmaceutical and electronics industries. Average daily revenue totals have increased nearly four-fold since 2008.

According to the California Port Authority, international trade accounts for nearly 25% of the state’s economy, while many goods moving through California ports in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas, such as industrial and postconsumer secondary materials, originated in other states.

The new location will help the company meet the shipping demands of customers moving freight in and out of the six ports located with 100 miles of the new facility, as well as shipments throughout North America.

The 48-door terminal will provide service to more than fifteen cities within a 200-mile radius surrounding San Jose, and will enhance Old Dominion’s national network of 213 service centres.

In other news, ODFL has opened a new container drayage site to serve all ports and container yards in the Mobile, Alabama area.

The new site – the second new container drayage facility ODFL has opened this year – will offer pick-up and delivery to any point in the continental US.

ODFL’s container drayage services include direct point-to-point delivery, loading, unloading, short-term warehousing and container pools for import and export shippers. The company offers direct services from eleven cities in addition to Mobile: Huntsville (Alabama), Chicago (Illinois), Los Angeles (California), Norfolk (Virginia), Wilmington and Charlotte (North Carolina), Charleston (South Carolina), Atlanta and Savannah (Georgia), Jacksonville (Florida), and Memphis (Tennessee), where the company opened a container drayage facility last month.
