Norbert Dentressangle Puts The Spark Into Vauxhall

Vauxhall Motors Ltd has signed a three-year contract extension with Norbert Dentressangle for the overnight distribution of automotive parts to 300 Vauxhall and Chevrolet retailers across the UK.

Through its established network, Norbert Dentressangle has provided Vauxhall with aftersales parts distribution for over 12 years. Its high service levels, proven operation and ability to cause minimal disruption to the customer’s business have all been key factors in retaining the contract.

In support of the contract extension, Norbert Dentressangle has invested £1-million in 35 new trailers.

Peter Durham, Warehouse Operations Manager at Vauxhall Motors, commented: “Norbert Dentressangle provides us with a flexible and proven transport solution that enables us to maintain a high level of service to our retailers.

“This combined with the a range of added value site services means we will continue to benefit from a reliable and cost effective parts distribution operation.”

The operation involves Norbert Dentressangle collecting orders from Vauxhall’s Parts Distribution Centre in Luton for onward delivery direct to the retailers overnight via its national shared-user network. This ensures that parts ordered by dealers prior to 6pm are delivered before the dealerships open at 8am the following day.

Added value services include returns sortation and management, waste management, outbound loading, yard services and on site shunting.

Vauxhall and Chevrolet management use Norbert Dentressangle’s SHARP (Shipment Handling and Reporting Program) technology. The integrated online system improves the overall efficiency of the operation as it ensures orders are processed immediately, allowing both companies to track deliveries using real time information.
