NTB (Bremerhaven) Management to be changed

Jan Gelderland succeeding Gerhard Wahlers as NTB boss

A personnel change is to take place within the Management Board of the terminal operator NTB – North Sea Terminal Bremerhaven GmbH & Co.. Gerhard Wahlers, who has been managing the joint venture since its establishment in 1998, will retire as per Mai 2009. Jan Gelderland (52) was appointed his successor. Before changing to NTB the born Dutch had been holding the function of Director Business Development at Hutchison Port Holdings and was in charge of the development of new terminal projects. Holding the function of COO of the Europe Container Terminal (ECT) in Rotterdam, he had been pulling the strings in operational and technical reorganisations.  

On July 8, 1998, NTB was formed as a joint venture between Maersk Line Sealand Service and BLG Container. Today Eurogate Group and APM Terminals Deutschland GmbH are each holding 50 per cent of the shares. The terminal in Bremerhaven is equipped with four berths for large-scale container vessels. 18 Super-Post-Panamax gantry cranes are available for loading and discharging vessels. In 2008 about 2.86 million TEU were handled at the NTB terminal, which is 12.6 per cent more than in the previous year.
