Audi opens CKD Centre in the Port of Duisburg

Schnellecke Logistics to organise CKD business for Audi at new logistics centre in the Port of Duisburg; investment totals EUR 25 million

Duisburger Hafen AG has recently completed a 53,000 m² hall, the new CKD (Completely Knocked Down) location for Audi AG. Audi charged automotive logistician Schnellecke Logistics with CKD business – picking, packing and stuffing of the vehicle parts in containers. Total investment amounted to more than EUR 25 million.

Over 800,000 cubic meters of car components will be exported via the logistics hub per year to China, India and Mexico. The CKD location is located next to the trimodal container terminal “Gateway West”. The logistics complex is thus connected to the rail, road and waterway.

Duisburger Hafen AG has also been able to convince Audi’s parent company Volkswagen of the location recently. The completion of the CKD centre ordered by VW shall be completed by the end of January 2014.
