ECL launches rail connection between Lübeck and Ludwigshafen

New intermodal connection linking the Baltic Sea and Rhine-Neckar region; European Cargo Logistics plans to operate 6 weekly departures

In a press release European Cargo Logistics GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of LHG, announces the strengthening of the port location Lübeck with a second national intermodal connection (previously “Ruhr Shuttle").

From the end of August the company launches the “RheiNeckar Shuttle“, another intermodal train between Lübeck-Travemünde and Ludwigshafen, carrying trailers, swap bodies and containers two times per week. Expansion to six weekly departures is scheduled. Ludwigshafen offers many gateway connections on the rail to France, Spain, Italy, Austria and Hungary.

As Germany’s biggest Baltic Sea port Lübeck plays a leading role in ro-ro transport with more than 700,000 trucks and trailer units, and is by far the market leader in ro-ro traffic with Sweden, Finland and Russia.

European Cargo Logistics GmbH is a 100% subsidiary of the Port of Lübeck company and has been active in intermodal transport for several years now. They operate a daily train to Duisburg under their own direction, and a long-established intermodal connection to Verona in cooperation with DHL.
