Prangl masters complicated transportation of a transformator

Transformator travels with special low load trailer to Styria

Prangl Group from Austria has solved another complicated transport task. For the construction of the Koralm-tunnel a 96.5 ton-transformator was transported from Regensburg (Germany) to the transformer station Deutschlandsberg (Austria). Due to the considerable height of the freight (4.28 meters), a 100-tons special low load trailer was deployed. The journey of the 36-metres vehicle with 17 axis took four days.

The total transport weight was 184.5 tons, which required a detailed transport survey. In addition to the transportation route the final destination required a detailed inspection. The pre-planning of the special transport took three months. Civil technicians calculated and tested the carrying capacity of many bridges. In total the transport passed 17 bridges and eight circular traffics.

After the arrival of the transformator at the transformer station Deutschlandsberg the freight was lifted by the aid of two hydraulic lifting portals PHP 63 from the low load trailer to special tracks to its final station. As of September the transformator will supply the construction site of the Koralm-tunnel with power.
