Handover of the new Buss terminal in Eemshaven

Buss majority holding of the Orange Blue Terminals B.V. creates about 100 new jobs on the medium term through multipurpose orientation:

The Hamburg-based port and logistics services provider, Buss, has taken over a new multi-purpose terminal in Eemshaven in the Netherlands from Groningen Seaports, following the signing of the agreement at a festive occasion. The operator of the new multi-purpose terminal is Orange Blue Terminals B.V., where the Buss Group has a majority holding.

The Orange Blue Terminal in Eemshaven will initially operate a 260 metre long quay which is due to be extended up to 630 metres in 2012. Buss is investing more than EUR 10 million to expand the facilities, pave the terminal area and erect the necessary superstructure. As a result, the group will create approximately 100 new jobs there in the medium term.

Buss Group Managing Director Heinrich Ahlers underlines the following: “This new terminal enables us to take a significant step towards the future. The focuses of our work in Eemshaven will be the offshore wind energy sector and multi-purpose operations. Our new business centre provides ideal conditions for the offshore industry in the North Sea.”

Eemshaven is situated just a few kilometres from the German border, directly on the estuary of the river Ems and south of the island of Borkum. The port provides rapid access to the open sea and onshore connections to the Dutch railway and national road networks.

Buss Ports operates efficient multi-purpose terminals in Hamburg and other ports and stands for a diverse offer of port-specific services. The terminals transship containers, project cargo, general and bulk goods and are supported by a comprehensive offer of in-house port services: stowing, lashing and securing, export packing, as well as container freight station (CFS). Buss Ports is also planning and developing new port facilities.
