Gebrüder Weiss gives wings to a 70.5 tonnes cargo piece

Gebrüder Weiss forwarding organises transport of a steel tank from Italy to Houston using an Antonov 124 aircraft

Last week, the transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss handled a heavy load project involving the second largest cargo plane in the world, the “Antonov 124”. They loaded a steel tank weighing a total of 70.5 tonnes, more than 13 metres long, manufactured in Italy. Destination of the tank is Houston, in the US-state of Texas, where it will go into action in a waste incineration plant.

The heavy transportation order had started on July 20 in the Italian commune of Suisio, near Bergamo. From there, the steel tank was transported mainly during night time on an eight-axle flatback truck across Switzerland to Zurich airport.

Because of the smooth execution of the transport the customer, an American machine manufacturer, will continue to use the service of Gebrüder Weiss. The manufacturing company has assigned the logistician with the transport of another steel tank.
