ÖBB and Wiener Hafen improve their cooperation at Freudenau port

Adjustments in the container terminals segment emphasise the role of Vienna’s port Freudenau as an efficient logistics hub

This morning the top representatives of the Viennese port Hafen Wien and the national railway company ÖBB Infrastruktur AG set up the basis in writing for an improvement of their cooperation in the port Freudenau. The Management of Hafen Wien, represented by Dir. Ing. Rudolf Mutz and Dir. Dr. Herbert Szirota, and Ing. Mag. (FH) Andreas Matthä, CEO of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG, signed an agreement about adjustments in the container terminal area.

The new facilities at the container terminal Freudenau have started operating with WienCont and ÖBB in September 2009. Hafen Wien and ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG are now agreeing about the extended operation and changes that were effected at the rail tracks in the past years in the Viennese port Freudenau. These measures shall help the port of Vienna to implement further plans on this area.
