Official start up of cargo airline AeroLogic
Joint venture of Lufthansa Cargo and DHL Express takes off In the presence of Wolfgang Mayrhuber, Chief Executive Officer of the Lufthansa Group, and Frank Appel, CEO of Deutsche Post DHL, the cargo airline AeroLogic will be officially inaugurated in Leipzig-Halle on June 19. The enterprise is a joint venture equally held by Lufthansa Cargo AG and DHL Express, with currently around 80 employees. Starting end of June AeroLogic offers regular freighter services from the Leipzig-Halle airport to selected destinations around the globe. The flight schedule and the fleet will be expanded step-by-step until 2011. Before the end of 2010 eight Boeing 777F with a capacity of around 100 tons each shall be operating for the airline. The company wants to soon count among the top-five providers of regular air cargo services in Europe.
