Panalpina spreads innovation in the air freight industry

Atlas Air and Panalpina to operate two Boeing 747-8 freighters of the latest generation

Atlas Air Inc., a company of the Atlas Air Worldwide group, and the Panalpina group have just signed a new contract for several years. The object of the agreement are two new aircraft of the Boeing 747-8F type, including crew, maintenance and insurance. The B747-8F jets will be operated by Atlas Air and enter service in the first half of 2012 and operate in Panalpina’s own controlled air freight network, replacing two Boeing 747-400F. Compared to the 747-400F, the new model scores with 16 per cent additional cargo volume and 12 per cent less carbon dioxide emissions.

With these new aircraft Panalpina is able to meet the increasing demand for large-freighter capacity, especially in the Healthcare, Hi-Tech, Automotive and Oil and Gas industries. The leading provider of supply chain solutions Panalpina and Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings have been long-time partners in aircraft operation.
