Plastics distributor Nexeo picks Meachers
Nexeo Solutions, the chemicals and plastics distributor, has signed a three year contract with Southampton based Meachers Global Logistics.
Meachers will arrange the inbound sea freight of polypropylene granules from the US to the UK on behalf of Nexeo. The goods will then be moved to the Meachers warehouse in Nursling to be de-vanned and loaded into bulk tankers for onward delivery to Hamble-le Rice, where they will be used to manufacture contact lenses.
Meachers has invested in new infrastructure at Nursling, including a hopper has been designed to load a bulk tanker with the polypropylene granules.
Meachers commercial director Gary Whittle said: “We have worked closely with the organisation to develop a solution to their specialist transport and shipping requirements, which has included investment in bespoke designed equipment.”
