Pöhland to act as Contargo Network Logistics GmbH

Integration of Pöhland group into Contargo’s trimodal container network is completed; all services will be maintained

Contargo, a container logistics network, has completed the integration of the Pöhland group. Effective September 19, 2013 the forwarding, transport, warehousing logistics and container logistics divisions were merged into one company, which will operate as Contargo Network Logistics GmbH.

„The renaming is the final step in the integration process of the Pöhland group into Contargo’s trimodal container network, which began in November 2011 with the purchase of the group,“ explains CEO Ingo Roettger. „All contacts and services are maintained in the usual way.“

The only change to the previous practice is: The previous Pöhland locations in southern and eastern Germany and Hamburg will act in all areas in the corporate design of Contargo. The e-mail addresses will be adapted to Contargo standard. Network Contargo Logistics GmbH covers the former Pöhland sites in Döhlau, Luhe, Hamburg and Hof with immediate effect.

„The new name confirms the affiliation to Contargo’s trimodal container network, one of the strongest hinterland and terminal operators in Europe. It opened the gate to Eastern Europe for Contargo,“ says Thomas Loeffler, co-CEO of Contargo Network Logistics GmbH

With an annual transport volume of 1.7 million TEU Contargo counts among the major container logistics networks in Europe. It connects container traffic between the western ports, the German North Sea ports and the European hinterland. The company has 27 container terminals in Germany, France, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, and offices at seven more locations in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Japan. The company also operates its own ship and rail lines. Their 800 employees generated a turnover of EUR 400 million in 2012.
