Police investigate allegation against DX

The City of London Police has launched an investigation in an allegation relating to DX’s Exchange operations.

The board of the company, which is currently in takeover talks with John Menzies plc, said in a statement that it “has been notified by the City of London Police Economic Crime Directorate of an allegation that has been made against the company which has resulted in the commencement of a preliminary investigation centred on the DX Exchange operations”.

DX Exchange is a private members’ B2B mail and parcel delivery network used primarily in legal, financial and public sectors.

It offers pre-9am delivery and post-5pm collection, and is also used as a site-to-site internal mail network.

It is made up of over 4,500 exchanges (including Legal Post) across the UK and Ireland, which contain over 25,000 customer boxes.

Users do not need to size, weigh or frank items. They simply add the recipient’s 3-line DX address and deliver the consignment to their local exchange.

eDX allows users to send and share encrypted digital documents and emails.

The DX statement said: “The investigation is at a very early stage. The Board of DX received the details of the allegation on 7 June 2017 and is co-operating fully with the City of London Police.”

On Monday, DX and Menzies came up with revised terms for the reverse takeover of DX by Menzies Distribution.

Following news of the police investigation, the board of John Menzies issued a statement saying: “The board of John Menzies is considering its position and will make a further announcement as and when appropriate,” it said.
