Port of Antwerp decides on EUR 1.6 billion investment package

Antwerp Port Authority: Price stability and long-term investment plan for the port expansion

These days the Antwerp Port Authority has approved an investment plan for 15 years at the amount of EUR 1.6 billion. The paper comprises e.g. the construction of a lock (works are planned to start next summer), the modernisation of docks, roads, bridges and canals as well as the acquisition of new suction dredge barges, tugboats and mobile cranes. Moreover a new port house and renovation of the administrative buildings are planned.

Continuity is maintained with the pricing. According to a press release the Antwerp Port Authority is going to freeze port dues at the 2010 level throughout the year 2011. Thereby the board of directors Is giving a clear signal to customers that the Port Authority is continuing its own, independent policy and is determined to maintain the port’s competitive position.
