Port of Hamburg offers new feeder services to the Baltic Sea

APL and Team Lines shift some of their Baltic Sea feeder services from Rotterdam to Hamburg

Port of Hamburg consolidates its position as a hub for feeder services in northern Europe. Thanks to the tight cooperation of APL container shipping company and the feeder specialist Team Lines, Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has won important feeder operations. The first feeder vessel of these newly structured liner services, „Empire“ operated by the APL shipping company, was handled on 31 August at HHLA in Hamburg.

From the end of August the shipping companies Team Lines and APL shifted some of their feeder services going to the Baltic Sea from Rotterdam to Hamburg. Thus they concentrate these activities in the Hanseatic city. Team Lines and APL are regularly deploying four feeder vessels in total, providing a storage capacity of 1,400 TEU each, on the routes between Hamburg and Bremerhaven on the one hand, and Finland, Russia and Poland on the other hand.

Dr. Stefan Behn, HHLA’s CEO of the Container segment: “The decisison of Team Lines and APL to concentrate their feeder services in Hamburg underlines Hamburg’s position as a leading feeder hub in northern Europe for the Baltic Sea region. This is a pioneering success for Port of Hamburg.”
