Port of Vienna consolidates its position in the fodder segment

Trimodal logistics centre in the Port of Vienna strengthens itself and the Danube waterway through GMP+ B3 certificate and Bargelink Pourtscout

In early April the Port of Vienna was certified according to the international fodder standard GMP + B3 and thus has further strengthened its competitiveness in handling and storage.

In addition, the inland port in the Austrian capital now uses the PortScout-module combined with Bargelink. This provides users of www.hafenwien.com with real-time information about free shipping capacity and charge rates within the region and throughout Europe.

GMP+ is an international standard for all necessary measures for fodder – from purchasing, to transport, processing and feeding. The scheme is based on the requirements of ISO 9001 and was further developed for fodder. The system ensures the quality of the fodder and thus the safe production, transportation and storage of animal food.

The Port of Vienna is expanding its service to include the storage of fodder in compliance with GMP+. There are 6 boxes available for bulk cargo with more than 7,000 m³ capacity in the material hall 1 at the Freudenau site. Wheat, barley, sunflower seeds, soy or other animal feed can be stored there according to the guidelines of the extensive GMP+ certification. Documentation is carried out online via DokuOnline.

Since 2001 Bargelink has been the marketplace for European inland waterways. Shippers, carriers, freighters and boatmen find their partners there. Bargelink combines the possibilities of the Internet with good traditions of the inland waterways. At Bargelink.com, the online marketplace for European river shipping, every month approximately 2,000 barge operators are searching for their next matching charge. At the same time up to 500,000 tonnes of cargo monthly are offered, for which a ship is searched.
