Port of Vienna had a strong start into the year 2011

Port of Vienna recorded growth in almost all segments in 2010 and considers construction of a 6,000 m² covered block warehouse: 

 

The Port of Vienna is heading for growth. The management board formed of Ing. Rudolf Mutz, Dr. Herbert Szirota and Mag. Monika Unterholzner reported growing container volume and high capacity utilisation of the storage facilities at the press conference on the balance sheet. In the period from January to May 2011 container volume has risen 15 per cent compared to the previous year. Utilisation of the warehouses amounted to around 90 per cent.

To be able to generate further growth in the warehousing logistics segment, the Port of Vienna is constructing a new bulk goods hall. Opening is scheduled for end 2011. „Moreover we are considering to build a a 6,000 m² covered block warehouse“, the managers Rudolf Mutz and Herbert Szirota announced.

In the fiscal period 2010 The Hafen Wien group with its 280 employees generated sales revenues at EUR 47.6 million. Thus last year’s figure was exceeded by 4.6 per cent. Ordinary business activity yielded EUR 8 million. Total throughput amounted to 4.9 million tons (in 2009: 4.5 million tons). Water-side throughput accounted for 1.25 million tons of this figure (+16%). Container volume compared to 2009increased 10 per cent to 320,000 TEU. 67,000 vehicles were handled at the car terminal. Investment into the expansion of the port infrastructure amounted to a total of EUR 15.9 million.
