After two months of construction: Port of Vienna starts operating the modernised entrance area on November 18
From November 18 the Port of Vienna can be entered via a modernised entrance area. Construction works in the entrance area of the bonded warehouse A in the Freudenau port started in mid-September 2013. This is the main access to the warehouse and car terminal, bonded warehouse and the container terminal 3. “The old entrance had been in use for more than 30 years and needed to be technically adapted and renewed“, says Mag. Friedrich Lehr, commercial manager of the Hafen Wien.
The renovation of the entrance area bonded warehouse A was implemented in the form of restoration of the kiosk and the immediate concrete surfaces. The kiosk was optically matched to the Port of Vienna and equipped with a sanitary facility. The Hafen Wien subsidiary WienCont Terminal Gesellschaft m.b.H. played a leading role in the conceptual design and procurement of the guard kiosk.
„The barrier and gate was also modernised. Since the driving range due to high truck payloads showed big ruts, it had been necessary to redevelop the entire area,“ says Karin Zipperer, Technical Director Port of Vienna. The guard is occupied 24/7.
