Prangl carries giant gigantic chemical container to Rotterdam

Combined crane and heavy haulage task: Prangl provides full range solution for a special order with loading in Lieboch

Under the direction of Prangl Ges.m.b.H a gigantic chemical container with a weight of just under 65 tonnes was transported to Rotterdam recently. In addition to planning and transporting the heavy cargo unit, loading the exhaust gas reactor was also part of the overall assignment. There has been extreme time pressure due to a scheduled loading date at the deep sea vessel in the port of Rottderdam. The container, which is around 14 metres long and 4.71 metres wide and is required for a chemical process in the fertiliser industry, had to be loaded in Lieboch, brought to the Netherlands and unloaded carefully.

Due to the reactor’s large dimensions, several routes were inspected in advance at the same time. In addition, it was vitally important to plan the best transport equipment. Finally, the combination of a 4-axle tractor unit and a 10-axle vessel bridge trailer emerged as the best option. The total dimensions of the convoy were 41 metres in lentgth and a total weight of 154 tonnes.

Due to the dimensions of the overall vehicle, it had to enter the motorway in Lieboch heading into oncoming traffic. The heavy load was manoeuvred carefully backwards between the guide walls. A 100-tonne, a 120-tonne and a 130-tonne telescopic crane was used to carefully load the chemical container onto the Prangl equipment at the point of departure.
